Thank You Modern Medicine

When I was in urgent care last week I said to my mom, "I'm so glad I didn't live in the 1800's or earlier because I think I could die from this."(referring to the acid reflux). My mom assured me I wouldn't die, but it felt like I could. You know women back then had to get this. So how did they treat it? I would die if I did this everyday. I say this because I had another "attack" of the reflux. It wasn't good. I had to try over the counter medicine before my insurance would approve my medication, and it didn't work. So yesterday I had to get all that straightened out. My doctor has the best nurse. She took care of everything and by 4:30 the insurance had approved my medication and not a moment too soon. At 3:00Am I woke up with horrible pains. It was almost as bad as last Friday, luckily my smart mom suggested I save one pill and I had it to take. It was a good thing because I didn't want to wake Justin up to take me to the emergency room. It took about an hour for the pill to work, but what sweet relief it was when it did work. Oddly, I had another attack at 7:30 this morning (not as bad) and my parents rushed over with my prescription, (Don't ask, I had it filled at the Walgreens by them-I know dumb). Now I am feeling better and I will be on this pill the rest of my pregnancy. All I have to say is this better the best baby ever and he better be darn cute for all I have been through with him. It will be totally worth it!

Hey Nat, I have chronic acid reflux and prescription meds are great, but expensive. You might consider going to the vitamin section of your favorite store and buy a bottle of Acidophilus. I've been taking that twice a day and haven't had to take any acid reflux medication in a while. It could be something more natural, but ask your doctor first.

Hey Natalie! I don't know if you remember me... Sharla :) from the good old days, but I found you off Elisabeth's site and decided to say "HI"! (I think you also know my sister in law Leann Williams too!) I'm so excited that you are expecting a baby and it's a boy! Congrats! You will be a great mommy! I hope the meds help with the acid reflux though - no fun! Check out my blog (jeffandsharla.blogspot.com) or email me (sharla.williams@att.net). It would be great to keep in touch!

Hey Natalie! I found your blog while I was blog surfing. Congrats on the baby! I was just reading your older posts and came across the one about thoughts on pregnancy. I was pregnant with my son during the '06 olympics. I never knew how emotional the olympics is! I cried when people won, lost, got hurt, didn't get hurt. I've never been so sappy! It hasn't stopped, either. This morining I got teary about some little-league pitcher who pitched a perfect game. I don't even like baseball! Congratulations and I hope the acid reflux gets better, or at least tolerable.
